The Story Oracle
Every writer hits that strange, airless and suffocating place where the words won’t move — or we simply need something lighter to play with while our manuscripts simmer in the dark. That’s why I created The Story Oracle. A free story generator built to ignite fresh ideas, unexpected plots, and the kind of inspiration that arrives when you stop forcing it.
The Oracle works as a story prompt generator, offering you the seed of a inspiration with just a few clicks. Use it to craft a short story, a novella, a novel, or simply to wake up your creative instincts again.
Choose your main genre and subgenre, then summon your story. Or, if you prefer to let the fates intervene, select the random option and see what The Oracle hand you.

No AI ~ Why this Story Generator is AI Free
The Story Oracle never uses AI to generate ideas — not now, not ever. Every element is hand‑built in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, crafted line by line by the author. All reel inputs are written by her or offered as suggestions by her readers, keeping the entire experience fully human. The Oracle exists to plant the seeds of creativity, not replace it.
As AI continues to seep into the writing space, she stands where many writers do — wary, protective of the craft, and unwilling to hand story telling over to a machine. AI‑generated prompts tend to feel flat, predictable, and hollow, because they aren’t truly random. They’re stitched together from other people’s work. The Story Oracle, by contrast, offers prompts with personality, texture, and room for a writer’s own voice to take root.
For those curious about why AI struggles so profoundly with story telling — and whether it can truly write a book — she’s preparing a full research piece inside The Hallowed Library (coming soon).

Unfortunately not at this moment in time. I would love to create an app for this purpose. Hopefully in the near future.
I try to add more entries every week. Including new genres and subgenres and the reel information.
We love seeing our story prompt generator help writers. Currently, the engine is still being developed, but we will be working on a simple embeddable widget and API, once the code is complete. This will allow bloggers, coaches and anyone to have this engine on their site.
No! I use HTML, CSS and JavaScript to make and update the story prompt generator. All reels have been manually entered into the code.

A. R. Moody is also not the only one creating story‑prompt tools. Below is a small collection of other generators built by creators who, like her, offer prompts without relying on AI.
